Wine Cellars Kutna Hora Ltd. is small familiar company which aim is to renew the faded glory of local viniculture. However, the first written mention of local viniculture is found in Kosmas Chronicle in 1101. In Kutna Hora, vine is grown on the vineyards in the size of 5 hectares. The wines from this area are great for its typical taste, brisk acidity and incommutable bouquet. The wines are rich and spicy. Middle-heavy, stony-sandy soil is perfect for types as Traminer, Muller Thurgau, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Saint Laurent.  

The company belongs to the ecological producers. It means the way of ecological management which is based on provision of sustainable growth of society and maintenance of healthy environment. We struggle for optimal harvest of better quality in the way which  flourishs the environment. Use of chemical preparative is strictly prohibited.  

One of the elements why the company belongs to the ecological producers is grass-covered vineyard. Another interesting fact is biodynamical management – the viticulture is seen as a live organism, which is influenced by nonmaterial effects. In praxis it means implementation of different actions according to the Moon phase. 

In the spring of 2005 the company renewed 0,5 ha of old vineyard “Nad Zámkem” in the village Kuks. It is known more as a Czech baroque pearl than as wine commune. The traditional Burgunder types are growth there – Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, and Pinot Noir. 

For the lovers of this delicious vintage we prepare the wines of the highest quality. We offer Regional Wines, Quality Wines and Quality Predicate Wines including the Straw Wine. Dominance of manual work in vineyards and cellar too is guarantee of originality and rarity of our wines. Even historical Kutna Hora may reveal you the secrets of cultivating vine. The Wine Cycling Trail will take you from the picturesque square to the vineyards under Sukov, on the northern outskirts of Kutna Hora. The loop of 6 km thus connects the historical city centre with vineyards. It starts on Palackeho Square and then, following the signs, it will lead you through “Vladislavova”, “Na Sione”, “Jiriho z Podebrad” and “Zvonarska” Streets. This route will get you out of the city centre onto light traffic road up to Sukov Hill (285 m above sea level) that also gave its name to the vineyard. After seeing the great view of historical town of Kutna Hora, you can visit our vineyard. Finishing the trip in our wine cellar located at the Ursuline Convent you can taste wines, get guided tour through our wine cellar and, of course, buy our wines.
